The Building
The Barcelona Pavilion which is also known as the German Pavilion was designed by Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, as the German national Pavilion for the 1929 Barcelona International Exhibition. Originally, the Pavilion was built to accommodate King Alphonso XIII of Spain with some German authorities. The Building is known to be one of the icon of modernism in the twentieth century architecture.

Unlike other architectural building, this was built with open-plan spaces, precise proportion, symmetry and minimalist design. Van Der Rohe also assembled different types of materials such as glass, steel and marble. Not only his buildings, but the features of the minimalistic design could also be seen in his furnitures which he specially designed for the building (Barcelona chair).
